In my embroidery class for women recovering from domestic violence, I guide a cohort through the transformative power of creative expression. Over the course of 2 cohorts, I’ve witnessed how challenging it can be for these remarkable women to carve out time and mental space for themselves—something many have rarely experienced.

As we engage in the delicate art of embroidery, participants discover not just a new skill but a profound sense of peace and relaxation. Many are astonished by the joy that emerges from the simple act of creating, allowing them to reconnect with their inner selves and explore their emotions in a safe, supportive environment.

Through this creative journey, we cultivate not only artistic skills but also a deeper sense of community and healing.
